Welcome, Kymosabe
Kymosabe, Kimosabe: Ke-mo sah-bee (pronounced /?ki?mo??s??bi/ us dict: k??·m?·sä?·b?; often spelled kemo sabe or kemosabe) – “faithful friend” in Potawatomi (American Indian language)
Welcome, Kymosabe
For years it’s been an idea in the back of our minds – now we have decided to make the idea a reality – an event.
An event to bring people from everywhere in the world together to practice their art(s).
Our first edition will focus on photographers. Later? Who knows, we can imagine musicians, writers, painters, singers, sculptors, actors….a summer of events in the middle of Hungary – at its smallest city, Simontornya (Simon’s tower) and the castle which now marks the spot, as a fitting venue to crown the achievements of the artists gathered here.
2010 will mark the 15th anniversary of the accession of Simontornya to the rank of ‘city’ and it will also celebrate international recognition with its sister cities in addition to the 60th anniversary of the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association.
And 2010 will also see the 1st edition of our Summer Arts Festival.
From 14 to 21 July we will see the city, its region and its people being photographed from every conceivable angle. There is a wealth of varied natural and man-made beauty here that will delight every photographer and give occasion to all for expressing themselves. Within easy distance there are châteaux, churches, lakes (Balaton and others), the Danube, corn and sunflower fields, wildlife, especially birds around our fish filled ponds (storks, cranes, hawks …) even an abandoned tannery and the light!!!
Plus, of course the great food and wine for which the region is justly proud and whose hospitable and friendly residents will take great pleasure in sharing with you.
We would like to have a good time… for ourselves, for you the artists and for our neighbors.
We are looking forward to hearing from you and to welcome you here, Kymosabe!
